Kate Milstead Earns W-League Player Of The Week Honors

Tampa, Fla. - United Soccer Leagues announced Wednesday, June 18 the W-League Team of the Week for the ninth week of the USL season. Northern Virginia goalkeeper Kate Milstead was highlighted on that list and was also selected as Player of the Week.
Milstead had an outstanding performance in goal for Northern Virginia preserving a 1-1 tie in Washington against the Freedom. Time and time again, Milstead equaled the constant pressure thrown at her by the defending W-League Champions. She finished the game with 23 saves in 90 minutes of action. The Freedom unloaded on 32 shots in the game with 24 going on goal.
Milstead has four starts for Northern Virginia this year in over 300 minutes of action. The Clarksburg, N.J., native returns for her junior season at Florida State in the fall. Last year, Milstead made seven appearances for the Seminoles accumulating more than 200 minutes in goal. She posted a 0.87 goals against average allowing just two goals while registering four saves.
Florida State has a number of Seminole student-athletes competing in the W-League this summer. Three Seminoles are also participating in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). Here is a look at who is playing and where they are competing before returning to Tallahassee in the fall.
