2005: Sauls was 6-2 as a starter in 2005...
his six wins ranked fifth on the Seminoles' pitching
staff...tied his single-season career-high for wins
matching his total from the 2004 season when he
finished with a 6-4 mark...recorded a 4.18 ERA on
the season...allowed two earned runs or less in
eight of his 14 starts...pitched five or more innings
in eight of his 14 starts...did not allow a single run
in three of his four relief appearances...was fifth on
the team with 66.2 innings pitched...Florida State
was 10-8 during his 18 appearances and 9-5 in his
14 starts in 2005...14 starts was third on the staff
with four relief appearances for 18 total trips to the
mound...a regular in the Seminoles' weekend
rotation with ten of his 14 starts coming on either
Friday, Saturday or Sunday...started in eight of the
Seminoles' 10 ACC series...started mid-week
games against Florida, which came directly before
the Clemson series, and beat the Gators as a starter
in the first game directly after the Virginia series...
tied his career-high with 7.0 innings pitched in an
ACC win over Maryland as he allowed only one
earned run and four hits to earn his sixth win of the

SOPHOMORE YEAR (2004): Started the
second-most games of any pitcher on the FSU
staff...went 6-4 in over 90 innings of work...one of
just two pitchers named to the 2004 All-ACC
Tournament Team...team went 11-6 in his 17 starts,
the second-best winning percentage on the team...
among the team leaders in seven categories...led
the team in runners picked off and was second in
games started...his winning percentage and six
wins ranked him fourth on the staff...he was third in
innings pitched, fifth in strikeouts and fourth in
batters struck out looking...second in the ACC for
wins in conference games.
CAPE COD: Named a reserve All-Star while
playing with the Hyannis Mets in the summer of
2004...Sauls headlined the trio of staff aces with
the Mets, going 3-1 in seven starts with a 1.90 ERA
and 38 strikeouts... Sauls combined on two shutouts
...struck out 38 batters and issued just 15 walks...
held opposing batters to just a .209 average.
FRESHMAN YEAR (2003): Allowed only one
hit in four scoreless innings of work vs. VMI (2/2) to
earn his first career victory...got his first start at
Stanford (2/9)...picked up win No. 2 against
Evansville after working five innings and striking out
a career-high eight batters (2/15)...allowed one
unearned run on one hit in five innings vs.
Appalachian State (2/22) to improve to 3-0 on the
season...went just one inning as the starter vs.
Charleston Southern in game two of the doubleheader...
threw four no-hit innings vs. Siena (3/5)
before allowing five runs (one earned) on three hits
in the fifth...gave up five runs (two earned) on six
hits in 3.2 innings against St. Joseph's (3/11) and
took a no-decision...started vs. Jacksonville (4/16)
and allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits
in a four-inning, no-decision...pitched one scoreless
inning of relief vs. Miami (4/26)...earned win
number four at Jacksonville (5/6) after throwing
five scoreless innings...tied a career-high with eight
strikeouts against the Dolphins...started vs. NC State
in the ACC Tournament and allowed two runs (no
earned runs) on four hits in 3.2 innings...struck out
three, but walked a season-high four Wolfpack
batters...improved to 5-0 with a win against Rutgers
(5/31) in the NCAA Regional, giving up five runs
on 10 hits in five innings.
HIGH SCHOOL: Drafted in the third round of
the 2002 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins...voted
second team All-State following his junior and
senior seasons...named pitching MVP as a junior
and a senior at Bay High School...voted All-Bay
County for three straight seasons (sophomore
through senior).
PERSONAL: Born on August 8, 1984...son of
Dennis and Anna Sauls...brother Matt played
